Tucked away on the western coast of India, Udupi is a beach town that often goes unnoticed, overshadowed by its more popular counterparts. However, for those with a thirst for adventure and a love for tranquil beaches, Udupi is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. In this 3-day road trip itinerary, we'll take you on a journey through the mesmerizing landscapes and serene shores of Udupi, revealing the magic that lies within this underrated destination.

Day 1: Bangalore to Udupi - Sunset by the Backwaters, Malpe Sea Walk

Our adventure began with the rising sun in Bangalore, as we embarked on a scenic 7-hour drive to Udupi, eager to reach our destination by sunset. The roads were smooth, offering a hassle-free journey through the picturesque Karnataka countryside.

Accommodation: Private Island by the Riverside

We had pre-booked a cozy and stunning Airbnb, situated on the edge of a private island along the backwaters. Imagine having an entire island to yourself!

      The best part?

It was surprisingly budget-friendly, costing less than INR 3,000 per night.

After settling in, we wasted no time and headed straight to Malpe Sea Walk, a picturesque pathway along Malpe Beach that provided unobstructed views of the mesmerizing sunsets.

Day 2: Maravanthe Beach, Kodi Bengre Beach, Malpe & Mattu Beach

Our second day started early, with a drive to Marvanthe Beach, a one-of-a-kind destination where a river flows on one side and the Arabian Sea stretches on the other. Driving along this road with the windows down, feeling the cool sea breeze, was a truly magical experience.

Following a quick breakfast by the beach, we ventured further south to explore some of Udupi's untouched and secluded beaches. Kodi Bengre Beach was a highlight, with only starfishes and our footprints to keep us company.

By noon, we reached Hoode Beach, where we indulged in lip-smacking local seafood dishes and took leisurely strolls along the pristine shoreline. The sense of tranquility here was indescribable, as if time had come to a standstill.

In the late afternoon, we arrived at Kaup Beach, famous for its 120-year-old lighthouse. We climbed to the top just in time to witness an extraordinary sunset. This marked the end of our enchanting Day 2.

Day 3: Delta Beach and Kemmanu Hanging Bridge

Our host had a special surprise for us on Day 3 - a boat ride along the backwaters, allowing us to explore Delta Beach, accessible only by boat. The sunrise boat ride was a captivating experience, with deserted islands and playful fish dancing on the water's surface, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere.

Continuing our boat journey, we headed toward the Hanging Bridge of Kempa. Early morning meant there were few visitors, and we had the bridge to ourselves, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.

With our boat ride and exploration complete, we bid farewell to the tranquil beauty of Udupi and began our journey back to Bangalore by 11 AM.
